X39 vs X49: what is the difference and how to alternate the patches

X39 vs X49 is a question about LifeWave's two flagship patches, each with its own focus. We explain how they differ, how to alternate them by day and when the set makes more sense.
X39 and X49 are LifeWave's two flagship phototherapy patches. They use the same technology: body heat activates the patch, and the reflected light becomes a signal for the body. But they have different jobs.
X39 vs X49: what's the difference?
- X39 — support for natural energy and overall wellbeing. According to the company, it helps support production of the copper peptide GHK-Cu. More in “X39 patch: what it is and how it works”.
- X49 — performance, strength, endurance and recovery after exercise. More in “X49 patch: how it works”.
How to alternate X39 and X49
The rule is simple: one patch a day, in the morning, for up to 12 hours. Which one depends on the day.
- Training days — X49.
- Rest days and ordinary workdays — X39.
- A week with heavy training — more days with X49; a quiet week — more X39.
- Drink enough water every day.
How to build the training routine itself is covered in “X39 for athletes”.
X39 and X49 together: how to wear them
“Together” here means “in one schedule”, not “at the same time”. The company recommends one patch a day, so X39 and X49 split the week between them. An example for someone who trains three times a week:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday — X49 on training days.
- Tuesday, Thursday, weekend — X39 on rest days and ordinary days.
If you train more — say, five times a week — shift the balance toward X49 and keep X39 for full rest days. To avoid mix-ups, keep both packs side by side and decide the evening before which patch you'll need tomorrow.
Every morning, apply the patch to clean, dry skin. Popular spots for X39 are below the back of the neck or near the navel; X49 goes on one of the recommended points from the instructions. In the evening, take the patch off and take a break until morning. In this schedule, rest days aren't a pause but part of your progress — see why in “Rest days from training”.
Common mistakes
- Wearing two patches on the same day. The rule is one X39 or X49 patch per day.
- Wearing a patch for longer than 12 hours or leaving it on overnight.
- Applying it to damp skin after a shower or to skin with cream — you need clean, dry skin.
- Forgetting about water: drinking enough is part of the protocol.
How to judge the results
A pack lasts 30 days — a convenient period to observe yourself. Rate how you feel on a scale of 1 to 10 in your notes: daytime energy, how you feel after training, sleep quality. After a month, compare your notes. Everyone's experience is different, and it's fairer to rely on your own observations than on expectations.
When does the set make more sense?
If you train several times a week and want to try both flagship patches. The X39 + X49 — Performance Bundle is a pack of X39 and a pack of X49 — both patches in one set.
