X49 patch: what it is, how it works and how to wear it

The X49 patch is LifeWave's sports patch for people who train regularly. Here is how X49 is made, where and when to apply it, and how to fit it into your training week.
X49 is LifeWave's phototherapy patch for people who live an active life: they lift at the gym, run or ride a bike. Like the company's other patches, it does not enter the skin and contains no medicinal substances or stimulants.
How does the X49 patch work?
The patch responds to body heat and reflects specific wavelengths of light. According to the company, this gentle light signal helps support strength and endurance, shorten recovery time after exercise and help you relax after a workout.
X49 patch benefits for people who train
The company positions X49 as a patch for an active lifestyle. According to LifeWave, it helps:
- support performance, strength and endurance;
- shorten recovery time after exercise;
- support the cardiovascular system — together with regular training;
- support a healthy weight — alongside good nutrition and movement.
Notice the words “together with”: the patch is meant to complement training, food and rest, not to replace them.
Who is X49 for?
- People who train regularly — several times a week.
- People who want to bounce back faster between workouts.
- People who already use X39 and want to add a sports focus.
How do you wear the X49 patch?
- One patch in the morning on clean, dry skin, on one of the points from the instructions.
- Wear it for up to 12 hours, then take it off.
- Drink enough water — it is part of the company's recommendations. The article “How much water do you really need to drink a day?” will help you work out how much.
- A pack holds 30 patches — exactly one month of daily use.
X49 patch placement: where to put it and how often to change the spot
The recommended points for X49 are shown in the instructions included in every pack — use them as your guide. After that, a few simple rules help:
- Skin should be clean and dry, with no cream, oil or lotion — otherwise the patch will not stick as well.
- Change the spot every day: a new patch goes on a new point.
- Pick a spot where the patch won't rub against a waistband, a backpack strap or a heart-rate monitor strap.
- If the skin under the patch turns red, choose a different point next time.
How to fit X49 into your training week
The patch does not replace the foundations of progress: sensible training load, sleep, post-workout nutrition and rest days. A convenient approach is to apply X49 in the morning on training days. More on building a routine in “X39 for athletes”.
How to judge the results
How you feel depends on many things at once: sleep, food, training load, stress. So it is fairer to look not at a single day but at a whole month — exactly how long one pack lasts.
- Note in your training log how you feel after a session and the following day.
- Don't change everything at once: if you switch your program and your diet at the same time, it will be hard to tell what made the difference.
X39 or X49 — which to choose?
X39 is about energy and everyday wellbeing, X49 is about performance and recovery after exercise. If you train actively, it makes sense to have both patches: they come together in the X39 + X49 — Performance Bundle. How to alternate them is covered in “X39 or X49: what is the difference”.
